About us

Meridian Group Somalia is a specialized consulting firm delivering demography, mortality surveillance, national survey design, geospatial analysis, and monitoring & evaluation services. We're founded and led by the demographer who has served as Somalia National Bureau of Statistics' Head of Data Science, Health Analytics & Statistical Systems Innovation since 2023 — the bureau's first such unit.

Our work sits at the point where field data becomes national policy: we've designed enumeration-area sampling frames, run nationwide fieldwork with 45+ supervised staff, applied WHO ANACoD tools to mortality data quality, and coordinated Somalia's SDG reporting to the UN High-Level Political Forum. Clients get technical delivery and senior policy advisory from the same team — not a handoff between the two.

  • ✓Built inside government, not adjacent to it — direct authorship of Somalia's national mortality and SDG reporting systems.
  • ✓Full-pipeline capability: sampling design, field data collection, GIS mapping, statistical modelling, dashboard delivery.
  • ✓Active technical relationships with WHO, UNFPA, UNICEF, Africa CDC, the African Union, and the World Bank.
  • ✓Field-tested across all five Federal Member States, including low-connectivity, insecurity-affected environments.
